How to… really get your 20s on.

Oh my god, you guys, I was gone for so long! I don’t know what to say! Except, woah, that was a lot of food. No really, I ate everything in my path, including, but in no way limited to, chocolate pecan pie, spiked egg nog, non-spiked egg nog, brisket, corn soufflé, Auntie Rita’s Kahlua cookies, and a truly heroic number of beer braised short rib pot pies. Calories don’t could in the entire month of December. AMIRITE?

That said, I’m baaaaaack. Aren’t you excited? I know I am. I’ve come back to this blog with a New Year’s Resolution and a brand new camera, so get ready for some knock-your-socks-off content. OR SOMETHING.

To kick off the new year, Alex and I went to LACMA’s Roarin’ 20s Party, and it was just as epic as it sounds. Here’s a picture to prove it:

I did that to my own hair, and I’m not going to lie, I kind of impressed myself.

What I’m Wearing:

Alex is impressed, too. Also, our wedding is in exactly 4 months. NO, I’M NOT FREAKING OUT AT ALL. AT. ALL.

How to… really class up that Thanksgiving dinner

Happy Thanksgiving, US readers! Happy Thursday to everyone else!

I have a confession to make: I am always overdressed. Always. To the office, out to dinner, and even, yes, for Thanksgiving. Growing up, I HATED wearing fancy clothes for what was basically a glorified buffet with my family, but now I really like it. Clearly, because I showed up to Alex’s family’s Thanksgiving dinner and apparently I had not read the memo about the “leggings, flats, and a tunic” dress code.

Also, I get to kill two birds with one stone here. Remember when I discovered TJ Maxx? And scored a Valentino dress for $250? I give you, THE DRESS:

What I’m wearing:

It was hard to get a good picture of this dress, because the subtle details (the ribbed top, ruffles at the bottom) kept getting blown out by the light situation. This one is a bit better:

These babies were my early birthday present from my fMIL (future Mother in Law) because she SPOILS ME ROTTEN.

I have a lot that I am thankful for this year. I’m thankful for my family, my newly extended family (Hello, Handys!), Alex, my two beautiful kitties, and for my friends that offer more support than I could ever hope for. I’m thankful for a fantastic apartment filled to the brim with lovely items that bring a smile to my face, and lots (and LOTS) of good things to eat. I’m thankful for my health and for my hopes and dreams, and for the people around me that allow me to pursue anything that comes into my head, from a crazy-ass Spartan Race to this little blog. And I’m thankful for you, my readers, my new friends, and this wonderful community. You have opened your arms and let me in, and I look forward to getting to know you guys even better in the future. I love what I’m doing here, and I love that I can share my very blessed life with you all.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Date Night

I went to Fashion Night Out at Saks Fifth Avenue at the beginning of September, and they had a drawing for a pair of Jimmy Choo’s.

I won.

Which is CRAZY.

Harold photo bombed my picture.

They called on Wednesday, and I picked them up on Thursday, and then announced that I wanted to go somewhere to “break them in.” So last night, we went to Geisha House in Hollywood. I got glammed up for the occasion.

I also got a super awesome manicure after work. Small pleasure on an easy Friday afternoon.

Did you do something particularly glamorous this weekend?
