How to… take an unplanned hiatus

You guys, I ate too much. Like, I fell asleep after dinner on Thursday and woke up approximately 56 minutes ago.  I do, however, have an outfit to share with you.

What I’m wearing:

  • Sunglasses: Franco Sarto
  • Jacket: Bebe
  • Blouse: Via Roma (local shop)
  • Leggings: Calvin Klein
  • Boots: Coach
  • Bag: Rebecca Minkoff MAB Mini

I have a really awesome story about this D necklace. The first holiday season Alex and I were together, we had only been together for a couple of weeks. I got Alex and awesome guitar hero T-shirt and made him a mix tape. It was a good mix tape, and definitely had a Spice Girls song on. It was so excited to give to him that I insisted we exchange presents at the earliest date possible. It was like December 2. So, we exchanged gifts, and I opened mine first. It was this diamond-encrusted D necklace.

He likes to say that he knew early that I’d be around for the long haul. I like to say he’s liked to spoil me from the beginning.

How was your holiday hiatus? Did you do any shopping on black Friday? Cyber Monday? Because I definitely did. And only about half of it was on stuff for myself.

How to… Wear horses on your shirt while still retaining a shred of dignity

Remember when we talked about how much I like animal clothing?

Yeah. Still true.

What I’m wearing:

I ended up buying both the lust and love shoes from my first lust or love post. The Theyskens Theory wedges were clearly cuter, but just too small. (I ordered the 41, but alas, the man makes TINY SHOES) These are pretty adorable though.

Unfortunately, the shoes were not comfortable. The back of the shoe rubbed my ankles raw, but I think with a bit of breaking in (and maybe some sand paper) I can make them work.

A little life update from me: I’m running in the Spartan Race this Saturday at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu, so I’m training like a crazy person and running 5+ miles a day. If you’re going to be in the area and want to see me slither through the mud and run as fast I can, stop by! We’ll get a glass of wine afterwards. It’ll be fun, I promise! :)

Gold Leather Vest

Thursday night, Fiance Alex and I went to Samba on Universal CityWalk for dinner. There was GiltCity deal a few months back, and we finally got around to going. I had never been to a Brazilian restaurant, and, despite low reviews on Yelp, I was not disappointed. The food was great, the drinks were tasty, and the mostly naked traditional Brazilian dancers were… you know, interesting.

Now that it’s dark by the time I get home after work (and Alex leaves for his job before the sun comes up) getting outfit pictures during the week requires some creativity. I kind of like how these turned out. Alex and I both have a lot more to learn about photography before nighttime shots actually look good, but we’ve made a good start. Plus, I’m kind of obsessed with this laser-cut gold leather vest. (Another TJ Maxx find)

Have you done anything fun this weekend?

Rain, rain go away… so I can take more pictures.

I liked this outfit so much that I had Alex shoot it twice. Once this morning (minutes after it rained), and again when I got home, when it was sunshine-y and beautiful out. (That’s why I’m wearing lipstick in a few shots and not in others…)

Today was a very special day, though. I went with two of my bridesmaids to pick out bridesmaid dresses. Annnnddd… WE PICKED ONE. Thank heavens. I brought my shortest and my tallest girl (both wear totally different dress sizes), and the dress looks great on them both. THANK. HEAVENS. I’ll share soon, after everyone has bought their dress.

Also, I went to TJ Maxx for the first time yesterday and it changed my life. I scored a Valentino dress for $250. $250! I’ll be featuring it soon, I promise. But for now, I’ll just feature this sweet faux fur vest and polka dot blouse (both TJ Maxx finds, as was the bag):

Blouse: Joie; Vest: Revue; Necklace: MR DANNIJO; Bracelet: unknown; Bag: Roberta Candolfi; Jacket: Tory Burch; Belt: Forever 21; Jeans: GAP; Boots: Tory Burch

Also, this nail polish that I’m wearing is from the OPI Muppets collection. It’s called Warm and Fozzie. Just thought you should know.

Here’s to a great new week!
