Red Shoes and Flying Monkeys – There Might Be a Point in Here Somewhere

When I was little, my favorite movie was The Wizard of Oz, mostly because Dorothy had some bitchin’ shoes. I’m not even kidding, I watched that movie just for the fashion. My 6-year-old self was awesome.

So now, I’m extremely attracted to red shoes. I own more pairs than is strictly necessary, and these are the newest additions to my crazy little sub-collection.

Blouse: Carven; Pants: J. Crew; Shoes: Giuseppe Zanotti; Bracelet: unknown; Watch: Michael Kors

Also, how amazing is this shirt? Alex was taking pictures and stopped, mid-click, to ask if the cape was part of the shirt. I said, yes, and he just looked at me like one might look at Rachel Zoe, if one were to see her in person. Like, “girl you crazy, but I kind of love you and wish I had those sunnies” kind of look. Is that oddly specific? DOES NO ONE ELSE THINK OF THESE KIND OF SCENARIOS WHILE DAY DREAMING? I think that might be tied to the fact that I was a 6-year-old kid willing to brave the flying monkeys (that scared me so throughly my dad had to de-flying monkey my bedroom before I would sleep) just to see the damn ruby slippers.

And in this shirt, I look like a flying monkey, so my life has definitely come full circle.

Is there a particular movie or show that has informed your fashion choices over the years?
